Alpha's International Week

Alpha leaders flock to HTB
More than 1,500 delegates from around the world attended Alpha International’s big biennial conference at all three HTB sites last week.

Delegates from multiple denominations including Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Pentecostal and Anglican attended the various conferences throughout the week including a large number of Bishops and Archbishops.

A special Bishops’ Stream was hosted by the Bishop of London, who opened the two-day Alpha conference on Monday, June 6.

Some of the seminar topics included: Principles in Alpha, Alpha in a Catholic Context, Worship on Alpha, Reaching out to Migrant Communities, Alpha and Sport, and preparing a talk for Alpha ESOL.

There were also small group sessions where delegates shared their stories of leading Alpha.

UK Vision day on the Wednesday was an opportunity to find out what has been happening with Alpha around the world and where it is headed.

Alpha leaders from all over the world shared their stories and gave feedback in the ‘News from the Nations’ sections led by Nicky Gumbel on Wednesday and Thursday.

Nicky also gave a talk on his vision for Alpha moving forward and his desire to reach 100 million people by 2020.

There was also a leadership panel where delegates were able to find out how leadership in the Church works and what it looks like.

The Relationship Central conference was on Friday, hosted by Nicky and Sila Lee. The Marriage Course, the Marriage Preparation Course, and the new Parenting courses were discussed in-depth.
